I've never really understood how the many Isms link together - and now I have at least begun to. Our tutors (we ended up with two) were both excellent, each with a slightly different slant. Right from day one we were encouraged to contribute to the discussion, which worked so well, as everyone had a different take on what we had seen. I just wish there were a series of more detailed follow up courses.

I got so much out of this course. I've always "liked" modern art but I was never sure how all the different movements tied in with each other or their social contexts. This course was great for learning that, and I can now speak with much more knowledge about art. An enthusiastic tutor who facilitated good discussions. It's a fast pace, but I'd recommend this course to anyone who isn't quite sure about modern art and wants to know more.

I learnt so much from this course and particularly enjoyed finding out about the painting styles of the different 'isms' as well as the social context in which they were produced. Our tutor was extremely knowledgable and there were lots of opportunities for discussion. Thoroughly recommend it.
