The course is designed to show you the fundamentals of the Photoshop product using CS4 - it's not for people who looking to learn photoshop to help with Photography - a slightly specialist course for that is run elsewhere in City Lit so go there. Also if your interest is only using Elements and not the CS version, this isnt that helpful especially if your IT literacy is average or below as the teaching style and speed seems to require this.

The best part of this course was the teacher.
There are several beginner courses at City Lit so make sure you get a course that he is running as he works hard to make sure that everyone is included and no-one gets left behind.
Having attended almost ten different courses at City Lit I have to say this is the course that impressed me the most

Both material and teaching methods were easy to access. It was fun and the handouts work well even at home.I had done other courses but never quite got it, this time I feel that I can develop on from here.

I learned a lot on this course. It covered many of the basic things that can be done with Photoshop, and packed a lot of information into a 6 week course. As a result of what I learned I have been able to edit some pictures, but clearly I need to practice much more to really become confident in these skills. It was a shame that the course did not refer more to Photoshop Elements, as that is the program I have - everything we learned about can be done in Elements but has to be adapted to fit. Also, the course is done on Apple computers which, if you are a PC user, requires an extra layer of learning. The tutor advised us on various ways to do the same things - by using icons, menus or keystrokes, and I would have preferred if if he had stuck to just one way throughout, as it was hard for me to remember all three. Also, some information sheets were not made available.
Although the course made me panic a little in trying to remember everything, I did learn a lot and have had fun experimenting with what I have learned since.

I would recommend this course to anyone wanting to know more about photoshop. The teaching was clear, with good exercises to try out in class building up our confidence to try it out at home. After the course I carried out touching up techniques on my work that I would never have had the confidence to try out before and was very pleased with the results.
