Learn how to use a variety of animation techniques including drawn, cut-outs and 3D model animation and narrative film-making skills. You will produce a range of animated narrative sequences that you will edit using final cut pro.
Session1: Group induction.Intro to camera and capturing stop frame animation on computer. Group exercises in stop frame / Pixillated movement.
Session 2-4: Using models we create a short 3D narrative animated sequence.
Session 5: Intro to Final Cut Pro . Edit visual animation in Final Cut Pro.
Session 6: Exercises in drawn animation using a range of materials for producing different effects.
Session 7- 8: Intro to cut out animation in After Effects, using transformation and puppet tool.
Session 9-10: Editing all work in Final Cut with sound. Export movies and burn dvds.
- An awareness of stop frame animation
- An understanding of frames, movement, character and emotion.

- An ability to create simple edits in Final Cut
- An awareness in preparing images in Photoshop
- An awareness of animating images in After Effects using transformations
- An understanding of the use of key frames
- An ability to export movies.
This is an introductory course.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations, hand-outs and for health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.
