Providing a structure for developing an 'Expressionist-type' use of paint, after initial work from observation.
Starting with sketchbooks in and around the City Lit site at Keeley Sreet, direct observation will lead to structured exercises to develop 'Expressionist' form and/or colour.
- make painted studies to show the different stages from representation to abstraction
- explore form and colour in paint within an intensive timeframe
- change and build on your initial work from direct observation.
Preferably you will have some painting experience. If not you will need to have some drawing skills.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion.
Please look at the rest of the course outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support in your English and Maths skills to help you to take part fully in this class.
- practical structured exercises
- pair and group discussion
- 1-1 tutor feedback
- images of artists' work
- some demonstration.
