overall it was a good course, however, the first half hour is wasted on meditation and breathing techniques which is in my opinion not relevant to drawing. i would rather be taught art history or something that is directly connected to drawing and art in general for the money i pay for the classes.

THE COURSE WAS BETTER THAN EXPECTED AND BROADENED MY VISION OF LIFE DRAWING AND DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES USED. THE TUTOR WAS VERY HELPFUL AND ENGAGED THE STUDENTS TOTALLY.

I was VERY upset that I'd wasted my money on this course. I had done life drawing for 8 years and have never known a class to be like this. At first I thought that I'd entered the wrong room as the first half hour was spent meditating! I paid for a life drawing class, not a spiritual class. One lady who missed the first day also looked a little confused when we were sat in a circle to endure the meditation on the second week. Far too spiritual. Based on breathing techniques and inner feelings, with no practicle drawing techniques taught and no examples of life drawing from Art History for reference. I was so angry I didn't attend the last two sessions! Should be advertised as an Impressionist/Expressionist view to life drawing. I didn't get anything out of it and found it extremely annoying that the tutor kept insisting that I 'breathe' and kept telling me that my easel was in the wrong position!

The teacher got us to carry out a lot of different approaches to drawing which helped us loosen up and get us in a good state of mind so we wouldn't feel so precious about creating a 'perfect' drawing. She helped me resolve problems in my work that I've been struggling to change for quite a while. There was a real mix of students, some of whom had never done life drawing before and others with a lot more experience but we all learnt a lot from her and each other.
