Ideal for beginners, this urban landscapes course will provide the basis for observational study. Using a range of methods, you will develop skills and confidence with this exciting medium. Basic materials included.
We will look at colour mixing and how to paint skies, buildings and water, either from art historical slides or a museum visit.
Have an understanding of watercolour techniques
Colour mix in relation to painting skies, trees and urban landscapes
Know the basics of the history of watercolour paints, brushes and paper
Have increased confidence in painting urban landscapes.
The course is for people who have had no, or little, experience in watercolour.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion.

Demonstration and practice.
There will be a limited amount of watercolour paints provided throughout the course. If you wish to purchase your own paints and brushes, advice and a materials list will be provided during the first session. Paper can also be purchased from the tutor.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
