This course was a joy to take part in. I was in very safe hands with the extremely experienced tutor. The class was really friendly and supportive. I came away with much greater confidence about painting in oil and was very happy with my final efforts!
Thoroughly recommended

The classes were not run by the tutor referred to in the prospectus, even though I'd phoned to confirm this just before the classes started. Teaching was still good with enough time given for each student despite quite large class size, but too much time was spent on demos, leaving approx 2 hours for painting to allow for cleaning up at the end. There was a lot of emphasis on still life for the first few weeks which always consisted of fruit, a tablecloth or vase, etc which I personally did not find very inspiring, although others enjoyed it. We began to develop our own ideas/themes after the first few weeks and there were an interesting variety of styles in the class. There is a visit to a London gallery to paint 'in situ' towards the end of the course which takes up a whole session. Acrylic paints or basic oils, brushes and paper etc are provided.

The structure of the course is really good. It permits students explore with colour mixing, complementary colours, etc. However there are too many students. It was really difficult for the teacher to spend quality time with each of us. I didn't get more than 10 minutes on average each lesson with the teacher (who by the way was really good).
