» Find another course in Visual arts» Search all coursesThis course is to give you a chance to explore ways of extending the traditional methods of presenting the human form and develop fresh ideas. It is an opportunity to use a variety of materials available in the studio. It is not a life modelling course.
The course will start by exploring the ways artists have used the human form in their work and how different aspects of the human body and human identity have been re-interpreted. Working from your own knowledge of the human form and sense of your own self as well as using images of the work of other artists, you will create a small sculpture which will broaden the traditional ways of looking at the figure. Full guidance is available for working with several different materials and methods of working, for example – modelling, casting, construction and working with found objects.
- show greater understanding of sculptural skills,
- appreciate the work of other artists who have worked with the non-traditional human form
- show a development of ideas through sculpture extending the idea of the human form and human condition.
This course is for all levels, beginners and those with some experience of sculpture
