  1. English and childcare

    Would you like to progress to accredited childcare courses but feel that you need to improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills? Explore the main theories in childcare and the range of employment and training opportunities available while developing your English skills.

  2. Level 3 childcare

    Do you want to progress into supervisory or specialised roles in an early years setting? Achieve the industry standard qualification here, through a supportive mix of classroom learning and workplace assessment. If you are aged 24 or over you can apply to the Student Loans Company to fund the majority of your course fees.     If you are aged 24 or over at the start of the course you can now apply for a government loan to help cover the costs. The course cost is £2882 which you can finance with a mix of loan and upfront fees, with a minimum upfront fee of £200 payable. Or if you are on certain benefits then a minimum upfront fee of £100. If aged under 24 then you’ll pay the full or conc fee listed below depending on your circumstances. If you think you will experience difficulties paying the upfront fee, you can talk to our IAG team who will advise you on instalment plans and bursaries.   3. Youth work: level 2 certificate

    Are you interested in working with young people in a youth work setting or in becoming a youth and community worker? Gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to work holistically with young people to facilitate their personal and social development. As well as teaching days you will complete a placement in a youth work setting.

  4. Level 2 certificate in information, advice or guidance

    Looking for a way into IAG work? Develop the skills and knowledge you need to support people to make informed choices. Learn the theory and practice required to work in this field. As well as teaching days you will complete a placement in a relevant setting. Applications are encouraged from learners who have used support services or have experienced homelessness and are ready to progress to employment.

  5. Childcare: level 1

    Achieve your first qualification in childcare. Learn the fundamental skills and knowledge you need to progress onto further qualifications, volunteering and work.

    Spend some special time with your baby. Baby massage is a gentle and loving way to relax and communicate. It has been used for centuries in many cultures as a way to promote health and wellbeing.   7. Computers for care and support work

    Are your computer skills holding you back? Competence with ICT is crucial for care and support work. Practice with current work related exercises that will provide you with the knowledge, skills and confidence for the job.

  8. Understanding working with people with mental health issues

    Increase your understanding of mental wellbeing and mental ill health. Investigate the common signs and symptoms of mental health issues. Explore the range of agencies involved in the sector and identify best practice in planning care that supports people holistically. This course is particularly useful if you are studying or hoping to work in support work, youth work, counselling, care work or mental health. Applications are encouraged from learners who have used support services or have experienced homelessness.

  9. Substance misuse awareness

    Gain an awareness of different types of substances and why they are misused, the social and personal effects of substance misuse and perceptions of and responses to substance misuse.
