Teacher training

We offer initial teacher training for teachers and aspiring teachers/trainers of adults, with part-time, flexible courses leading to national qualifications. We also offer CPD courses for practicing vocational teachers. We train and develop people working in, or who want to work in a range of organisations, including adult education, community and further education, the voluntary sector, work-based learning and the public and private sector.

    The ‘Award in Education and Training’ is a course designed to support vocational teachers and trainers in developing knowledge and skills in designing and delivering inclusive learning. The emphasis will be on refining your teaching/training practice and developing as a reflective practitioner. On successful completion you will receive the City & Guilds 6502 level 3 Award in Education and Training qualification. This course will be taught through blended learning, ideal for those who prefer more independent study. Please note: This course is delivered through blended learning. Classroom attendance is required for all of the following dates: 21/01/17, 22/01/17, 25/03/17, 26/03/17, 08/04/17, 09/04/17.

    The Staff Professional Development team at the City Lit, run a series of CPD workshops to enable both new and experienced teachers to update their professional development. 'Dyslexia awareness' aims to give you an overview of how a dyslexic learner learns. In this workshop you will share good practices in applying strategies to support them in achieving their learning outcomes.   5. CPD for vocational teachers: Using technology for learning

    The Staff Professional Development team at the City Lit, run a series of CPD workshops to enable both new and experienced teachers to update their professional development. Technology is an invaluable resource for supporting learners in achieving their full potential and developing their digital and wider skills. In this workshop you will share good practices in using a range of tools that give learners support, choice and flexibility for inclusive teaching and learning. These are experiential workshops with active participation from the participants.

    This course allows for flexible learning. You can cover the topics anytime anywhere, within the start and end dates. There is no attendance required. This requires requires you to engage in approx 6-8 hours of independent online study between 16/01/17 and 10/04/17.
