Student stories

Image of Peter Smith, art & design portfolio course Having been a guitarist in rock bands since his teens, Peter Smith was in his thirties when decided that it was time to return to education to pursue a lifelong passion.

“I chose an art and design course because I wished to apply for an art degree. Learning means that I can change the direction that my life is taking. It encouraged me to work on things that I wouldn’t have attempted before.”

Peter joined the art and design portfolio course, which allows learners to explore a range of topics - from illustration and digital media to investigative drawing and sculpture – and to leave with a portfolio that demonstrates these skills.

Taking a part-time evening course meant that crucially Peter could carry on working full time, and he has now been accepted at Middlesex University. He added, “Thank you to City Lit for the opportunity.”
