You will be introduced to the media compression and encoding application Compressor and to various compression formats. You need to compress your work differently for different needs eg. for the web or DVD. This course allows you to make informed choices about which compression meets your needs best.
You will be introduced to Compressor and its main functions. You will learn to differentiate between different CODECs (used for encoding and decoding digital files for editing and playback) and will leave being able to choose an appropriate compression setting for your needs.
- Open Compressor and import your sequence into it
- Select an appropriate codec for your destination
- Compress video for the web and DVD.
You do not need to have any experience of using Compressor but you need some basic knowledge of Final Cut or Premiere Pro, and experience of importing footage into your computer.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations, hand-outs and for health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.
Please look at the rest of the course outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support in your English and Maths skills to help you to take part fully in this class.
