By the end of this course you should be able to:

- use tools to target and manipulate specific areas of an image
- use adjusments to change colour and tone
- combine images from different sourses
- create type and use filters and effects

- develop your design work and produce a portfolio of prints and digitally saved work on CD.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is intended for beginners, although people with some basic experience of Photoshop, or those who wish to gain a certificate, may also find it useful.

Basic skills will be covered, working towards a greater understanding of the main features of Photoshop. You will be given practical exercises but encouraged to develop your own design work at your own pace, building on your existing skills to develop your portfolio or experiment with ideas.

You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.

Please look at the rest of the course outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support in your English and Maths skills to help you to take part fully in this class.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course consists of structured practical exercises, discussions and demonstrations. One-to-one help and advice is given throughout. The computers used are Apple Mac, with Photoshop CS compatible to PC.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Books are recommended but are not essential purchases. Printing costs are covered on the course. A CD-R will also be provided for storing work.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
