A three- day introduction to drawing for beginners, with some extra time included for life drawing.
- Drawing from simple objects
- Using different drawing materials
- An extra time-slot for drawing directly from the life model
- Exploring various drawing methods
- Tone, light and dark.
- Draw simple objects in a realistic style
- Investigate at least 3 drawing methods: traditional & non- traditional
- Explore an abstract or intuitive approach to drawing
- Achieve confidence to use a sketchbook
- Draw directly from observation of the human body.
For beginners
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations, hand-outs and for health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.
Please look at the rest of the course outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support in your English and Maths skills to help you to take part fully in this class.

Basic materials provided. The library is free to all City Lit enrolled learners. Sketchbooks will be discussed at the beginning.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
