Learning strategies to help you draw the figure more accurately and/or expressively. Exploring ways to approach life drawing, including the use of a variety of materials.
You will be encouraged to adopt the materials and working practice of various artists, and to consider and discuss their approach and attitude to the nude. Using this structure, the course covers basics such as proportion and measurement, composition, tone and lighting, and the development of courage, energy and personal ideas. Materials used will include pencil, charcoal and pastel.

- look at, and take inspiration from, the work and practice of a variety of artists.
Some drawing experience would be helpful (e.g. on the courses 'Drawing 1' or 'Introduction to Life Drawing').
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
