The course is about using fabric, stitch and beads to create bracelets, necklaces and corsages.
How to use Bondaweb, wadding and fusion techniques together with embroidery and embellishment.
- Use fabrics and hand embroidery to create a range of jewellery.
- Use bondaweb to laminate two or more pieces of fabric.
- Create raised effects using wadding.
The course is for beginners to advanced who want to experiment with soft jewellery making.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations, hand-outs and for health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.
Please look at the rest of the course outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support in your English and Maths skills to help you to take part fully in this class.
The course will be taught by demonstrations, samples and handouts that show how the above skills are developed. Support and advice will be given by the tutor throughout.
City Lit provides most of the basic tools you will need and a selection of fabrics and sewing materials. Please bring fabrics (denim, saris, fancy fabrics), needles and any embroidery threads you may have.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Your tutor will give you feedback both individually and through group discussion.
