This short course is designed for those who have no experience in making beaded jewellery. The course will begin with an introduction to the tools used, then the designing and making of a simple beaded necklace using wire and beads. You will have the option of making a necklace with knotting between beads.
You will make a beaded necklace using wire pins. You will learn how to knot between beads, how to attach clasps and how to manipulate wire in order to twist it around beads. You will have the opportunity to apply these methods to a piece (or pieces) of jewellery of your own design.
- Knot between beads
- Attach clasps
- Make head pins and eye pins
- Tie and twist beads onto wire
- Take away a piece of jewellery of your own design.
The course is for beginners, or those with experience of making jewellery using metals but not using beads.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.
Please look at the rest of the course outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support in your English and Maths skills to help you to take part fully in this class.
