This course provides an exciting opportunity to extend your painting practise with guidance from two experienced tutors. Students will be given practical support to deepen their knowledge of materials and techniques and be encouraged to identify areas of interest and personal approaches to making paintings. A look at recent developments in painting will be included in the course as a focus for group discussion and reflection. By application only. Over ten weeks we will explore a range of materials and methods of painting, strategies for establishing and developing a body of work and learn about contemporary developments in painting.
- Understand how to achieve three different painting techniques
- Identify subject matter of interest to you
- Collect reference material to explore a body of work
- Develop conscious strategies when embarking on a series of paintings.
- Have greater confidence and independence in your working methods
- Be familiar with the work of a variety of contemporary painters.
This is a course suitable for students who have completed previous courses in painting or have a reasonable level of experience.
By demonstration, practical projects, handouts, one to one tutoring and group discussion and reviews.
Art materials are provided. You will be asked to look for and provide your own reference materials such as sketches and photographs.
This course requires the completion of an application form.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
