Provides an introduction to developing a 'Cubist-type' still-life painting.
Starting with direct representation, you will progress through a series of guided exercises towards an abstracted 'Cubist-type' format. NB this is an intensive course.
- make painted studies showing stages of development towards a 'Cubist' form in paint
- explore tone and structure in paint within a structured, intensive time-frame
- change and build on initial work from observation.
Preferably you will have done some painting courses before, eg 'Painting 1' or 'Painting continued', or you will need experience of drawing.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion.
Please look at the rest of the course outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support in your English and Maths skills to help you to take part fully in this class.
- practical structured exercises
- pair and group discussion
- 1-1 tutor feedback
- images of artists' work
- some demonstration.
