A practical approach to painting techniques and skills that will support indivudaul development. You will be encouraged to explore your own ideas through creative exercises and simple methods of visual research in painting.
Initially we will recapp on colour mixing and paint application techniques, taking these methods into practical exercises. If you have ideas of your own, we will discuss the most appropriate methods and materials that you can use to realise those ideas and develop your skills and understanding. You will be given expert guidence on the pros and cons of specialist materials, and directed towards artists who are relevant to your particular interests.
- experiment with a range of colour mixing and paint application techniques
- use appropriate methods and materials to pursue individual projects
- identify personal preferences in your selction of a colour pallette
- explore the work of other artists to inform your own painting.
The course is aimed at students with some experience of painting or drawing, but is also suitable for beginners.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion.

You will be provided with basic materials but will be encouraged to bring additional equipment to follow your chosen projects.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
