Exploring a range of options available to us on how to use paint we will study the techniques of four well-known artists who paint in very different ways. This will enable us to try these methods out in our own work.
We will study the techniques of four well-known artists. Through demonstrations and looking at images of different paintings we will learn about stippling, layering, glazing, wet on wet and impasto. We will then apply these techniques to several still life paintings.
• Recognise 4 different painting techniques as used by other artists.
• Understand how 4 different painting effects are achieved.
• Apply the different painting techniques above to your own still life paintings
• Make a choice about which techniques to apply in your own work.
The course is suitable for those with a little experience of painting. It is not suitable for absolute beginners.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations, hand-outs and for health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.
