Ideal for beginners, the life model will provide the basis for observational study. Using a range of methods in watercolour, the course aims to develop skills and confidence with this exciting medium. Basic materials included.
Watercolour in a special relationship to life painting, the skeleton and portrait.
Demonstrate confidence in watercolour painting
Understand colour mixing in relation to watercolour and the body
Understand the possibilities of mark-making in watercolour
Attempt portraiture and anatomy in watercolour.
For people who have had little experience of watercolour painting.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion.
Please look at the rest of the course outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support in your English and Maths skills to help you to take part fully in this class.

There will be a limited amount of watercolour paints provided throughout the course. If you wish to purchase your own paints and brushes, advice and a materials list will be provided during the first session. Paper can also be purchased from the tutor.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
