To encourage appreciation of the mixed media application of intaglio and relief printing whilst introducing the beginner to basic printmaking.
You will be introduced to a step-by-step approach, to various processes (mostly zinc & lino) enabling you to explore methods of cutting and biting. You will begin from your own starting point, using an image of your choice, and print images singly and together.
Make etchings using hard and soft grounds
Apply aquatints
Make drypoint images
Cut and etch line
Print these blocks as separate and multiple images in both colour and monochrome.
The course is suitable for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners. You should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English for both health and safety purposes and to enable you to follow printmaking procedures. You should be able to take short written notes for your own use and occasionally make simple measurements using a ruler.

The course fee covers some basic materials such as inks, acids and white spirit. All papers and plate can be purchased at cost in the class. Please bring rags for cleaning.
