The course is intended as an extension of a complete printmaking course, operating as a workshop where you can negotiate your individual learning plans with the tutor. It is a great opportunity for people who want to make use of extra sessions in the printroom.
All techniques covered in City Lit printmaking courses can be applied, such as collography, lino cut, etching, drypoint, photo etching and monoprinting.
- apply any processes that you may have missed on a previous printmaking course
- complete outstanding personal projects
- take away a well presented final print using a template for registration
- expand experimentation with an existing plate.
This course is specifically aimed at learners with previous printmaking experience. You should have competed the beginner's programme in printmaking as a minimum.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations, hand-outs and for health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.
Please look at the rest of the course outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support in your English and Maths skills to help you to take part fully in this class.
A personal programme of work will be negotiated between you and the tutor and the teaching will take the form of one-to-one guidance within a workshop environment.
Most materials are provided, however, if you wish to use a high quality printing paper you can purchase this from your tutor at cost price. Basic paper for printing is provided. Additional zinc plates and photo etching plates will also be charged at cost.
No.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
