A 'taster' course for anyone interested in acting.
Introduction of technical skills - breathing, movement, voice.
Introduction to the physical aspects of acting.
Improvisation. Group work, individual work and work in pairs. Beginning to explore the actors imagination. Observation skills. Use of games to free the imagination. Introduction of text - how to play imaginatively with text. Introduction to character devising.

Beginners.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Listen and respond to instructions and feedback.
• Take part in class discussions.
• Read a script and/or related text.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.
In a fun, friendly and supportive environment, using simple and specific tasks and instructions. Games, exercises and some presentations and observations within the class. Working individually, in pairs and small groups.
Nothing is required except attendance, but there may be a group visit to see a theatre performance of the group's choice.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Observation of self and others is taught as an essential skill in this area. You will quickly become adept at recognising progress in yourself and others.
