The course is about exploring and deepening self-awareness and the ability to relate to others through use of the Enneagram model of personality. The Enneagram (nine model) is an ancient system for human psychological and spiritual growth. It is primarily known and used today for it's nine personality types, these are what we will be working with during the course.
Background and modern context of the Enneagram.
A grounding in all nine types.
Getting to know your own type.
How types move through the model in times of stress and relaxation.
The effect of type on relationships both professional and personal.
Recognise the main characteristics of all nine types.
Know or be on the way to knowing my own type.
Understand how types move through the model at times of stress and relaxation.
Identify areas for personal development.
This introductory course is suitable for you if you wish to expland your self-knowledge. No prior experience or knowledge of the Enneagram is required. However, those familiar with the Enneagram and wishing to deepen their understanding of it are also welcome to attend. The Enneagram has applications in both personal and professional life. It can provide a useful alternative perspective for those working with the helping professions, eg therapy, counselling and teaching, etc.
It is an experiential course that includes input on theory and group discussion. There will be individual, partner, small and whole group work. Various exercises and the use of mult-media will be used to facilitate your learning. You will be required to carry out some experiential homework between the two days of the course. The experiential nature of the course will require you to be willing to take part in the exercises and discussions and to use your own experience as material to learn from.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. You will be encouraged to reflect on your learning during and after the course. A sense of progress should become apparent through reflection and participation in the experiential parts of the course. You can expect your tutor to give you feedback both individually and through group discussion. At the end of the course you will be given the opportunity to complete a record of your achievements that will be verified by your tutor.
