World Book Day

This year World Book Day falls on 4 March, and to mark this event 10 new
Quick Read titles will be launched.
Quick Reads are short books which offer a sharp shot of entertainment.
With a mix of great titles and an accessible format,
Quick Reads are perfect for adults who are new to reading, find reading tough or simply want a fast fun read. Since the initiative was launched in 2006, over 60 different titles by bestselling authors and celebrities have been published and have engaged 1.2 million people.
Two City Lit skills for life classes have been invited by NIACE to attend World Book Day as a result of their use of Quick Reads in their class. The event is set to include a talk by author and historian Alison Wier and students will have the opportunity to be part of the audience and to join in with a question and answer session.
Annabel Steward, Skills for Life Development Manager, said, “It was great to be invited by NIACE to take part in this event. We use Quick Reads a lot with our learners as they are very accessible and relevant.”
Quick reads are available from supermarkets, bookshops and online priced at just £1.99. They will also be available as downloadable e-books. To find out more, visit
