Major gallery celebrates City Lit ceramics

One of London's leading galleries for applied arts, Barrett Marsden, is currently hosting a major exhibition celebrating 20 years since City Lit's renowned ceramics diploma course first started. 'Diverse practices' presents new works by 11 alumni, all of whom have gone on to develop national and international careers in the field of ceramics and related disciplines.

On view until 14 February 2009, the show features sculptural and installation work, prints and projections, as well as some extraordinary ceramics vessels. The pieces highlight the originality, diversity, skill and intellectual rigour that are developed on the diploma course. Alongside the exhibition there is a small display of work by the City Lit staff team.

The exhibition is curated by Tessa Peters and will be accompanied by an essay by David Whiting. Barret Marsden see the show as "a unique collaboration between one of London's most famous educational institutions and this leading ceramics gallery".

The eleven exhibitors are: Jane Blackman, Anne Brodie, Victoria Burgher, Brigit Connolly, Thomas Gosebruch, Deirdre Hawthorne, Mimi Joung, Nicolas Rena, David Rhys-Jones, Naomi Schillinger and Glen Wild.
