Access to HE diploma (drama)

The 'Access to HE diploma', accredited by OCN, offers an exciting and disciplined course of study in practical drama training to enable students to progress to the 'Professional acting diploma (two year)' or other drama schools.

Divided into two groups, during this challenging course of study, you will work with experienced professional practitioners and teachers in physical theatre, Stanislavski, Shakespeare, voice work and musical theatre. You will also work on the methodologies of Meisner, modern monologues, rehearsal to performance classes and screen acting in our purpose built TV/film suite. The year culminates with a final production with full production values, directed by a professional guest director.

The course is open to anyone who has completed a one year part-time drama foundation course or equivalent, either at City Lit or elsewhere

Entry is via audition:

- You need to have memorised one modern and one classical monologue (Greek, Shakespeare or Jacobean) each of two minutes duration.

- Your ability to read and interpret text, to write clear and accurate short pieces of information on the application form and show evidence of working successfully in a collaborative context will also form part of the audition process.

- If you have not completed our foundation course, you may be asked to execute either an endowment or object exercise as part of the audition.

The ‘Access to HE diploma (drama)’ is accredited through OCNLR (Open College Network London Region) and an access certificate is awarded once the course has been successfully completed.

Please bring two passport sized photographs. Audition dates: 14-18 July, 2014, 09.30-17.00.

If you are aged 24 or over at the start of the course you can now apply for a government loan to help cover the costs.
