This course takes place over 2 years to allow for developmental studies. For students who have completed a music foundation course at City Lit or elsewhere, or those who have equivalent training/experience. Units in: theory, aural, keyboard harmony, music analysis, performance, composition and Sibelius software. Mon 10.00 to 15.00, Tue 10.00 to 15.30 and Wed 09.45 to 15.30. Auditions and theory tests take place in July and September on a first come first served basis. This is a one-year course, accredited by the Open College Network. You will attend several modules which include elements of music, general musicianship, improvisation, composition and performance. Regular attendance to all classes is necessary. Auditions take place on Wednesday 11th July 2012 at 9:45am and also on Wednesday 12th September 2012 at 9.45am. Please be prepared to stay all morning for tests.
If you are aged 24 or over at the start of the course you can now apply for a government loan to cover the costs in addition to an upfront fee. The upfront fee helps us to ensure the course remains viable and is much less likely to close as a result of last minute cancellations by students. The loan amount is £2075 and the upfront fee is £1309. Or if you are on certain benefits then a loan of £3246 and £138 upfront fee. If aged under 24 then you’ll pay the full or conc fee listed below depending on your circumstances. If you think you will experience difficulties paying the upfront fee, you can talk to our IAG team who will advise you on instalment plans and bursaries. A broad introduction to all elements of music at beginner level including music theory, aural, basic keyboard skills, performance, composition, music analysis and music technology. Course runs on Mon 10:00 to 16:00 for all three terms but during term 2 there are also classes on Wed 10:00 to 13:00. Auditions take place in Jul and Sep on a first come first served basis. On this one-year programme, beginners in music will explore elements of music, general musicianship, improvisation, composition and performance. Regular attendance is necessary. Accredited by the Open College Network. Auditions take place on Monday 9th July 2012 at 10am and Monday 10th September 2012 at 10am and again at 2pm. Please be prompt as tests will start on time and be prepared to stay for a few hours.
