Advanced string ensemble

Violin, viola, cello and double bass players will learn to play as a string ensemble and perform at the end of each term. The tutor will direct as a conductor and will supply and arrange suitable music. You can enrol on this course throughout the year. Afro Cuban Big Band

A practical workshop for intermediate players giving you hands on experience of playing in a Latin band. Our emphasis will be playing as an ensemble, improvising and developing rhythmic skill. Before you enrol please tell the music team which instrument you play on 020 7492 2633.

Ideal if you have completed level 3 or have reached a level equivalent to a grade 3 to 4 exam. Focus on consolidating positions 1 to 6. Thumb position will be introduced and you will explore the three clefs used.

Cello taster

Learn how to hold the cello and bow, how the instrument works, and play some simple tunes by the end of the session. A few cellos are available for use in class but ideally bring your own.
