Advanced string ensemble

Violin, viola, 'cello and double bass players will learn to play as a string ensemble and perform at the end of each term. The tutor will direct as a conductor and will supply and arrange suitable music. You can enrol on this course throughout the year. Afro-Cuban big band

A practical workshop for intermediate players giving you hands on experience of playing in a Latin band ensemble with emphasis on developing improvising and rhythmic skills. Brass instrumentalists particularly welcome! Piano, bass and guitar places are limited, so please apply to the Music department prior to enrolling. N.B. Piano and bass places are now taken for this course.

Beginner string ensemble

Ideal for violinists, viola players, 'cellists and double bass players with about a year's playing experience. Learn to play together with direction from the tutor, who will arrange and supply suitable music. Class is for learning ensemble playing rather than instrument technique.
