A cappella singing

Meet the challenge of unaccompanied part singing in a variety of musical styles: classical, classic pop, world traditions. Music reading desirable, good ears, good timing and an established singing voice are essential. You must commit to learning musical arrangements for class and performances.

Advanced singers' workshop (performance): module 3

For experienced singers with a stable vocal technique wishing to develop performance skills for recital and stage. Entry by formal audition. Please contact the Music team: 0207 492 2630 for an appointment. This course is for classically trained, experienced singers, having had at least five years of one to one singing lessons.

Advanced singers' workshop (Song): module 3

Further study in the workshop situation, broadening your repertoire and developing vocal and performance skills. Work in greater detail for a deeper understanding of your art. You will need to be able to learn new songs proposed by your tutor and present them from memory on a regular basis.Please come to a music advice session so that we can be sure that the course is the right level for you.
This course is for classically trained, experienced singers, having had at least 5 years of one-to-one singing lessons.

Basic technique for singing: module 3

An introduction to the art of solo singing. Gain a fundamental grasp of vocal technique as well as an understanding of the level of work and commitment involved to progress as a singer. If you buy modules 1, 2 and 3 at the same time you can claim a £20 reduction off the full fee (ask when you enrol). This is the first year of a foundation level course.

Learn the techniques and skills required to lead and direct a singing ensemble. Ideal if you want to lead group/community singing in schools, the youth sector, with adults or established choirs. Explore physical, aural and vocal warm up activities, operate with and without the use of written music, and prepare your group for performance.

This established ensemble sings original arrangements of jazz and popular songs, and performs frequently. New members with good music reading and aural skills are welcome. You will develop your ear, timing, intonation, memory and team work. You must commit to learning arrangements.

City Opera: module 3

If you are intending to enter the profession/one of the conservatoires then this course will provide extensive training in all aspects of operatic performance. Staged or semi staged performances at the end of the course. Contact the music department on 020 7492 2630 or music@citylit.ac.uk for audition details. Please note that the times for this course are Mondays 18:30-21:30 and Sundays 13:00-17:30

Consolidate your singing technique: module 3

Ideal if you have a basic singing technique and some idea of suitable repertoire but are not yet ready to move into a full workshop situation. You need to have had a minimum of two years' singing lessons/classes. You need to have completed 'Basic' and 'Develop your singing technique' or equivalent i.e. 2 years of individual singing lessons or classes as this is the third level of our foundation courses. Please come to a music advice session so that we can be sure that the course is the right one for you.
