Be a volunteer

Interested in volunteering to support adults with their learning? Learning at college can be difficult for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities. At City Lit we recruit and train volunteers to enable students who need additional support to attend and participate as fully as possible in the class of their choice.

About City Lit and volunteering
City Lit aims to offer an inclusive culture, which increases access to learning and ensures support for all students. Volunteers play a key part in this. They are people who are unpaid and willingly contribute their time, energy and skills to benefit our students. For some, volunteering may be a route into teacher training. For others, it may be an opportunity to learn new skills or develop existing expertise.

What our volunteers say…
‘Volunteering has helped with my continuing education and is a useful addition to my CV.’
‘I find volunteering at the City Lit a rewarding experience. I enjoy helping to facilitate others’ learning’.
‘I was well supported in my volunteer role and it became a valuable learning experience for me.’
‘Volunteering helped me with self-confidence.’
