City Lit is London’s ultimate destination for inspiring courses aimed at adult and postgraduate learners.
The City Lit Drama School offers a solid entry into the performing arts industries as a professional performer through our accredited programme (Drama Foundation, Access to HE Diploma and ultimately leading into our Professional Acting Diploma) alongside over 500 part time courses in acting, voice and dance.
Most of our classes take place in our bright, modern flagship building in Covent Garden and are taught by inspiring teachers, most of whom are professional performers, directors and leading experts and practitioners in their field.
Set only a few minutes walk away from Aldwych, Covent Garden and Drury Lane, the City Lit Drama School prides itself on being in the heart of London Theatreland, and providing an environment that nurtures upcoming performers for the profession that is literally on its doorstep!
Famous alumni from City Lit include singer David Bowie, actors Steven Berkoff and Richard Wilson, authors Jake Arnott and Jenny Colgan, comedians Jimmy Carr, Kerry Godliman and Francesca Martinez, and Britain's first female Muslim comic, Shazia Mirza. Many of its teachers continue to be distinguished professionals including well-known authors, artists, actors, directors, broadcasters and academics.
The Department offers classes that are challenging, with clear channels for progression and taught by professionals active in the industry. The Department also boasts its own Theatre Company whose raison d'etre is to put on a full scale professional production each term.
Our recognised programme of accredited courses is designed to ensure you work extensively on voice, movement and physicality, scripted and devised work towards preparing you with the necessary foundation as a versatile and employable actor for access to professional industry.
