What is the course about?
On this course you will learn how to use the most essential features of PowerPoint so you can create an attractive and effective presentation. You will learn how to make it interesting to the audience and visually appealing – for example by changing the font type, size and colour, using different styles or slide backgrounds. You will learn about different design templates, how insert and edit images, how to make words and images appear and disappear. You will also learn how to use presenter notes to make giving a presentation easier and how to print out slides and handouts.
What will we cover?
• identifying the key features that make a PowerPoint presentation engaging to the audience and well-designed
•creating visually appealing presentations using font size, colour, style or slide background, line spacing, bullets and numbering and shadow effect
•creating a well-designed slideshow with text and images
• applying preset slide design
•guiding the attention of the viewer to relevant parts of the presentation using animation and slide transitions
• adding, deleting, copying and re-ordering slides
• presenting effectively using presenter notes
•printing presentations in different formats.
• producing and editing various objects in a presentation.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Although this is a beginner's course to PowerPoint, you should be able to use the keyboard and mouse and have word processing experience. You should be able to follow spoken instructions, read written instructions and information, and discuss work with your tutor.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
You will learn in a supportive and welcoming environment with an emphasis on your discovering how to do and complete tasks, with guidance from the tutor. You will work on your own and with other students on different tasks so you are always practising important in-demand life and work skills such as problem-solving, decision-making, prioritising, negotiating, collaborating and independence. You will learn in a step by step manner so you can complete challenging tasks in enjoyable and relaxing ways. Your tutor will also work with you individually so you know how to improve and how to work in a way that improves your learning. You will need to do work outside the classroom and use Google Classroom to help you.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
You will need a pen, some lined A4 paper and a folder to keep your work in. Your tutor will provide handouts and a code for Google classroom so you can communicate with classmates and access materials, videos etc. online.
