Audition for 'Table' by Tanya Ronder

TABLE is the story of belonging, identity and the things we pass on. Revolving around a large table handed down through six generations, this exciting production will be an ensemble piece, combining comedy, drama and tragedy where actors may be cast across multiple roles and play across age types.

Casting
Some characters will be represented from childhood to adulthood. For this reason, casting will be flexible, and open with some actors taking on more than one role.

David Best – 20’s-30’s
Elizabeth- David’s wife, 20’s
Finley- David & Elizabeth’s son, from age 6-40’s
Margaret- Finley’s neighbour and later wife, 18-30’s
Albert- Finley & Margaret’s son, age 8 – 20’s
Sarah- Finley & Margaret’s daughter, age 8 – 50’s
Veronique – 20’s
Hope- a nun, 20’s
Babette- a nun, 20’s
Ruth- a nun, 20’s
Mother Superior- Irish, 40’s
Jack Holman- big-cat hunter, 20’s-40’s
Gideon- Sarah’s son, age 2 – 60’s
Julian- founder member of commune, 30’s-40’s
Orion- founder member of commune, 30’s-40’s
Stacey- founder member of commune, 30’s-40’s
Aisha- daughter of commune, 15
Barbara- daughter of commune, 12
Chris- commune member, 30’s
Jess- commune member, 30’s
Michelle Wiseman- Gideon’s wife, 30 – 60
Anthony- Gideon & Michelle’s son, 5 –40’s
Su-Lin- Anthony’s daughter, 9

How to audition
Review to the course outline and complete the application form (click ‘Start Assessment’). Once completed, the Drama Department will get in touch with you to schedule your audition and provide you with additional information. Please note that your application cannot be considered without a headshot. Please email your clear, front facing photo of yourself to drama@citylit.ac.uk once you have completed you application form.

Auditions:
Auditions will take the form of a group workshop on Sunday 6th October. Participants will take part in group exercises and games, and will be asked to prepare a speech from a contemporary play (later than 1960s), no longer than two minutes, performed from memory. Participants do not need to have read Table before the audition but it is good practice to do so.

Course Requirements
Overall dates for rehearsal and performance are 28/10/2019 to 7/12/19. Rehearsals take place:

  • Monday and Friday evenings 18.30-21.30 and
  • Sundays 11.00 to 16.30 You will also need to be available each evening and all day Saturday during production week: Mon 2 Dec to Sat 7 Dec 2019

Following a successful audition, participants will be authorised to enrol on the City Lit Theatre Company course (DRA140) with the attached course fee of £269.
