City Lit fellow Sir Vince Cable appointed leader of the Liberal Democrats

Story added 21st Jul 2017

We would like to warmly congratulate City Lit fellow Sir Vince Cable, who has this week been appointed leader of the Liberal Democrats.

Sir Vince has been an outstanding advocate for adult education during his time in politics. As Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills between 2010 and 2015, he was steadfast in his personal commitment in protecting funding for adult skills. As well as his political career, he has authored several books and reports on international economics, trade and environmental issues. Sir Vince recently spoke of his passion for adult learning in an article for the Times Educational Supplement (TES) (£).

We are delighted that Sir Vince has also agreed to open this year’s Mental Wealth Festival, taking place between 12-14 September at City Lit.
