City Lit students – tell us your stories!

Story added 25th May 2017

We want to film your story...

Got an interesting story to tell?

We want to find out about your experiences at City Lit and hear your views on how and why the college matters to you.

Your opinions mean a lot to us as we continue to fundraise and start preparing for our centenary celebrations – your story tells others what makes City Lit special.

Since first opening in 1919, we’ve welcomed thousands of students through our doors, and we believe every student has a unique story to tell. So, if you’ve got a fascinating story to share about your motivation for studying at City Lit, we want to hear from you!  Great examples would include:

Does City Lit run in the family?

If you’ve got links to the college going back generations, we want to learn about it…

Did you meet your partner at City Lit?

Whether in business or life, let us know…

Are you City Lit’s most prolific ‘course hopper’?

If you’ve studied everything from American History to Astronomy, we’re keen to find out more…

Did you reinvent yourself after studying at City Lit?

Did a course inspire a career change? We’d love to hear the story…

Come and talk to us, we’ll be filming interviews in our main building on Keeley Street on:

Monday 5th June 2017, 5pm-8.30pm

Tuesday 6th June 2017, 12pm-4pm

Wednesday 7th June 2017, 3.30pm- 7pm

We will ask you about what City Lit means to you and film your replies.

Read and watch some of our student stories.

If you don’t want to be filmed but still want to share your story, or simply want to find out more, please email us at

Please include your name and if possible your photo or examples of your work. Your story may be used within City Lit or externally.
