City Lit Fellow Ed Balls is a former MP, Cabinet Minister and Treasury Chief Economic Adviser. He is a Senior Fellow at Harvard University Kennedy School’s Mossavar-Rahmani Center, Visiting Professor to the Policy Institute at King’s College London, and Chairman of Norwich City FC. He is also a cook, pianist, economist and, now, BBC Strictly Come Dancing contestant. He came to City Lit for help and advice on managing his stammer and has been generous in his time with others who stammer at City Lit.

Find out more about Ed Ball’s life and political career at this special event which includes a signing of his new book Speaking Out – a record of a life in politics, but also much more. It is about how power can be used for the benefit of others, and the lessons that can be learned when things go wrong. It is about the mechanics of Westminster, and of government.
