Evening Standard Stories Competition

Stories competition is back!

The Evening Standard are searching for fresh new voices in their free-to-enter Stories competition, encouraging anyone with a story to share their piece in written word, audio or film. Judged by a high-profile panel from different storytelling mediums, this is an opportunity to tell an engaging story and win invaluable mentorship, plus the chance to be published across Evening Standard platforms.

Education Partner

City Lit is official Education Partner of this year's Festival. The winner and the 2 runners-up will each get a complimentary place on a City Lit Writing course of their choice (up to £250). More information will be announced later this year.

Share your story

This competition is not limited to a ‘short story’. Submissions can be a piece of spoken word or performance, perhaps it’s a monologue, a script or a self-contained episode of a narrative podcast. Entries can be submitted as written, audio, or film.

Winner 2021

Pieter Dewulf studied several creative writing courses at City Lit during the pandemic and he won the stories competition in 2021. You can read more about why he decided to enter the competition as well as his time at City Lit here on our blog.
