Homer Day, Saturday 24 November 2018

City Lit, in partnership University College London (UCL), presents a day of lectures and talks on Homer, whose works have become part of world literature. The event will offer an opportunity to look at some of the themes that Homer deals with in the Iliad and the Odyssey, such as the view on women, and also find out more about the art that was inspired by his work.

The lecture topics include: Homer today, Homer in art, The depiction of women in Homer, Homer's views on craftsmanship, Penelope and Odysseus: reading the recognition scene, Calligraphy on papyri, Homecoming in Homer. Details and times of the lectures are included in the session booking page.
