London Craft Week 2017: Highlights

London Craft Week is running from 3-7 May at various locations around the capital. The event is London’s leading showcase of exceptional craftsmanship featuring hidden workshops and unknown makers alongside celebrated masters, famous studios, galleries, shops and luxury brands. Here are just some of the highlights you can expect across the week:

Christian Louboutin: Experience an Artisan at Work
3-5 May, 10am-6pm  

The Christian Louboutin Dover Street Men’s Boutique welcomes an artisan from Milan to demonstrate centuries-old Italian leather craftsmanship and innovative design in the making of their collection, with a focus on its signature leather tassels.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars: Bespoke Luxury
4 May, 5:30pm-6:30pm 

Join a Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Bespoke Designer for an insight into the marque’s continued commitment to hand-crafted perfection, more than 113 years since Sir Henry Royce and Hon. Charles Rolls founded a company with a vision to create the ‘Best Cars in the World’.

Mulberry: The Passion of Making
3-6 May, 10:00am-7:00pm; 7 May, 12:00pm-6:00pm

Visit Mulberry’s flagship store and see craftsmen and craftswomen from the brand’s two factories in Somerset demonstrate the making of its iconic handbag styles.

Crafting Speed: Kayak Building with The Boat Building Academy
7 May, 10:00am – 7:00pm

Experts from the Boat Building Academy demonstrate their skills of steam bending and modern wood construction to build a kayak. Visitors are invited not just to look but to also get involved under the supervision of two Academy Instructors.

London School of Dry Stone Walling Workshop at Southwark Cathedral
4-6 May, various times

For the first time at Southwark Cathedral’s courtyard, London School of Dry Stone Walling hosts a unique short course. Participants are offered a practical introduction to the heritage and craft of building walls using natural stone without mortar. Booking necessary.
