Tube strike - Central Line will be affected

Story added 25th Jan 2017

You may already be aware that industrial action affecting the Central Line service on the London Underground has been announced for Wednesday 25th January starting at 9pm and all day on Thursday 26th January. All other lines are unaffected.

All of our classes will go ahead as planned.

If the strike goes ahead, it is expected that there will be disruption to Central Line services on Thursday.

Things might change, but we wanted to give you time to plan your route to us for your course, just in case.

We have put together a list of alternative ways to travel to City Lit including buses, trains, walking and cycling, along with useful links to help you plan your journey: Travelling to City Lit. It is really easy to get to City Lit without using the Tube, there are lots of travel options available. We have found that most students come in during strikes and we hope our travel tips will help you with your journey

Here's how the Central Line strike action might affect you:

  • No service east of Leytonstone on the Central Line on Thursday
  • A reduced service running on the rest of the Central Line for all of Thursday
  • All other transport services will be unaffected - though could be busier in places as travellers find alternative routes

You can find more details on whether your journey may be affected as well as the latest updates about the strike on the TfL website.

Remember to allow extra time for travelling to City Lit tomorrow as other methods of transport might be busier than normal.

We very much appreciate the support of those students affected in seeking alternative ways of getting to us on Thursday.

We look forward to seeing you and travel safely.
