A voice for Richard

A lecture by Yvonne Morley, exclusive to City Lit

Friday 20th September 3-5pm

Imagine if we could see King Richard III speaking his own words. What a fantastic and remarkable moment that would be.

Experts from across the UK are collaborating in a pioneering venture to achieve this objective using craniofacial analysis, the latest CGI, motion capture technology and the voice and facial expressions of actors specially selected and then trained to represent the Original Pronunciation, likely accent, dialect and voice of Richard III. It is being described as the new science of historical human reconstruction.

  • Experts include Yvonne Morley (PROJECT INSTIGATOR AND LEAD) Former Head of Voice at LAMDA.
  • Voice teacher, accent and vocal coach, undertaking research to develop the vocal profile analysis for Richard’s voice and pronunciation, selecting and then training the potential actor(s) who will undertake the recording of King Richard’s words in the Original Pronunciation and dialect.

In this lecture, exclusive to City Lit, Yvonne will briefly discuss the history and exploration of this fascinating subject, and take questions.
