What is the course about?

This workshop provides an opportunity to develop your ability to use and understand BSL fingerspelling by focussing on strategies and techniques to improve pace, flow and speed.

What will we cover?

You will have the opportunity to practice fingerspelling and develop your use of location, movement, pace and flow. You will improve your ability to recognise fingerspelling patterns and your confidence in recognising shapes and letter groups.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

• Fingerspell in BSL with greater flow and clarity
• Know how to use fingerspelling patterns
• Read fingerspelling and recognise words with greater confidence.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is designed for those who are currently on a level 1 or 2 BSL course.
You do not need an interview - you can enrol directly.
You will need to have basic literacy as you will be asked to read simple explanations and instructions.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Teaching delivery methods will include:
• Demonstration and explanation
• Interactive taught sessions
• Pair/group work
• Questions and answers.
