The course is designed to enable you to communicate with Deaf people in British Sign Language at level 1 standard within a range of everyday topics. The course leads to the Level 1 Award in BSL, accredited by the Signature awarding body. Carolina comes from a deaf family and has always used Sign Language. Her Level 3 teaching qualification enables Carolina to teach BSL classes. Carolina teaches introduction to BSL and level 1 at City Lit. When not working at City Lit, she also works at Oak Lodge school as a Teaching Assistant with deaf pupils from year 7 to year 11 and as a BSL teacher with hearing parents of deaf children. Outside of work she is actively involved in the deaf community around the UK - volunteering as liaison women's coordinator for the Deaf champion football league of Europe, deaf youth club and is an active member of a deaf badminton group. Carolina is very proud to be a member of the BSL team here at City Lit.
