City Lit Pro courses provide accelerated learning for busy people who need specific skills for the workplace. This course covers Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign at an intermediate level. You'll learn advanced techniques and efficient workflows to create and manipulate photographs, graphics and page layouts.

What is the course about?

This intermediate course leads to more advanced techniques and efficient workflows when using Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Students will learn to create and manipulate smart objects and advanced filters in Photoshop; integrate type and design using Photoshop and Illustrator, manipulate complex layouts and tables.
This course is ideal for those who have a good working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and would like to advance or review their practice. This course will enable you to use your learned skills in photography, web and print whether working as a company employee, freelance or creating your own personal projects.

This is an online course and you will need to have access to the latest version of Adobe® Creative Cloud for Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, which is what will be used to teach this course.
Please note that versions older than CC are not suitable for this course, as there are too many differences and as a result students will not be able to perform many of the same functions on their own computers.
Unfortunately, due to the range of hardware and software used by students at home, the College is unable to provide advice on installation issues.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign or having completed City lit Pro Adobe Creative Cloud Intensive course.
If you are new to using Apple computers you might find one of our introduction to Apple Mac courses useful.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You will be taught using a range of techniques including short lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises, tutorials, group and individual assistance. Student preparation and homework outside class times is strongly encouraged.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

This is an online course and you will need to have access to the latest version of Adobe® Creative Cloud for Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, which is what will be used to teach this course.

A pen and paper to take notes. Step-by-step instruction, with demonstrations where appropriate, will help you grasp the concepts. You may also find that having a couple of sheets of A4 paper and a ruler to hand would also be useful. Handouts for this course will be provided electronically in Google Classroom and are best viewed in Adobe Acrobat Reader (or, if you have full Creative Cloud, Acrobat DC) so may want to have Acrobat on your personal home computer.

Andrea is a skilled and qualified educator, currently teaching various areas of Design and Marketing, emphasizing real world practice and the latest trends. She studied graphic design at the Royal College of Art and Education at Westminster University. She has over 14 years’ commercial experience working as an art director for high profile advertising agencies on local, pan European and global accounts in Sao Paulo, Rio, London and Amsterdam. She has also freelanced for small agencies and in-house marketing and design studios in London. She now splits her time between teaching, her own practice and her young family.
