What is the course about?
The course is designed to show you how to explore and create make-up effects for Film, Theatre and TV. You will use a range of products and techniques. You will carry out your own research and build a small portfolio of images that will provide a starting point to building your own design ideas.
What will we cover?
First, second and third degree burns
Open cuts, stitched cuts
Bruising and black eyes.
Please note that acting classes by their very nature can involve exercises and the exploration of material that some students may find challenging.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
Create bruising, black eyes, wounds, cuts, scars ageing, apply facial hair to create character looks.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
You will work in pairs to get the feel of applying the products to an artist/actor. There will be demonstrations, hand outs, one to one feedback, group discussion and practical work. Outside the class you will be asked to create a small ideas portfolio. This will be discussed in the first session.
As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
There will be a £15 materials fee and you are advised to bring a camera to document your practical work.
