What is the course about?

The abdomen is the seat of digestion, elimination, gut instinct, the link between the breath of the diaphragm and the upper body and the legs and our ability to move through life. It is the point at which we transform food energy and absorb nutrients into the physical and subtle energy body. Fertility and sexuality are centred here and at the belly button we touch on our birth and our coming into the world.
Here is our seat of interaction with the outside world, the core, our sense of balance, likes and dislikes and our sense of self at the Solar Plexus. The lower back and the Sacrum are our support. Any tension, pain or dysfunction here can have an impact on the entire emotional and physical wellbeing.
It may often be a place of vulnerability for clients and requires great sensitivity and presence in a therapist to treat with due care. This workshop teaches you to treat with confidence this area of profound transformation, holding the client in a deeply relaxed state that encourages innate healing.
This routine restores: efficiency of the digestive process, the reproductive process, balance, flow and deep connection to source. It will address lower back and core strength issues and may be incorporated into a full body massage or performed as a stand alone.

What will we cover?

• The anatomy, physiological and subtle, of the abdomen and sacrum and related conditions.
• Palpatory skills and the particular considerations for the therapist in the abdominal area.
• A one hour routine for the abdomen and sacrum.
• Holding the client in a safe resourced space.
• Contraindications, specific considerations for the bladder, reproductive issues, pregnancy.
• IBS , PID.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Identify the muscles and organs of the abdomen and sacrum through palpation.
Identify the subtle body and associations of the abdomen and sacrum.
Perform a deeply restorative routine on the abdomen, safely with due consideration, as a stand alone or as part of a larger routine.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

You will require a previous massage, anatomy and physiology qualification.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Demonstration, tutor and peer review and feedback, pair work, handouts, practical workshop.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
