What is the course about?
This taster course will provide an exciting introduction and opportunity to engage in some key acting exercises in a fun and supportive atmosphere. You will discover the value and ease in working in an online environment, realising the potential to develop and grow your skills under the guidance of one of our experienced acting tutors. If you are new to acting you will discover that acting classes are an ideal way to build confidence, meet new people and to increase your well-being. You will unlock your imagination and develop your creativity in a fun and supportive environment through a range of exercises designed to increase your abilities in acting and improve your communication skills.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.
What will we cover?
The key components of acting including drama games and exercises and Character work.
Please note that acting classes by their very nature can involve exercises and the exploration of material that some students may find challenging.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
No prior knowledge is required to participate in this class. This course is perfect for those who are looking to take their first steps in acting, to develop personally or for those with an interest in pursuing acting further.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Listen and respond to instructions and feedback.
• Communicate clearly in discussion and drama practice.
• Read and respond to a variety of text.
• Give and receive constructive feedback.
• Take notes
• Work within groups and pairs safely.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
You will be involved in group, pair and some individual work.
As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You
are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
Wear comfortable shoes and clothing that you can relax and move freely in.
When I've finished, what course can I do next?
Depending on your level of experience enrol onto one of the following courses: DRF012 Acting for fun or DRF004 Acting workshop if you are a beginner or an improver. More advanced students could consider either DRA007 Acting advanced: text and performance or DRA051 Acting: building a character.
